Chapter Programs

The 2006 - 2010 National Program theme, under International President Barbara A. McKinzie, is “The Heart of ESP: An Extraordinary Service Program ” . ESP is an acronym for Economics, Sisterhood, and Partnerships. The purpose of ESP is to energize and strengthen service to the community and sisterhood within Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Beta Xi Omega Chapter works diligently to serve our local community, relying on the wealth of experience and commitment of members as well as with assistance through local partnerships. Some program activities include:

Platform I: The Non-Traditional Entrepreneur

  1. Highlight member entrepreneurs during chapter meetings
  2. Member entrepreneurs promote their products by displays at chapter meetings

Platform II: The Economic Keys to Success

  1. ESP( Earn-Save-Prosper) Kids Club (scheduled)
  2. “Be Economically Savvy Seminar” held for general public and members
  3. AKAnomics Moment - training held during regular chapter meetings
  4. Scholarships and recognitions/awards to high school seniors, Tuskegee University students and middle school young male achievers
  5. NAACP Membership Drive

Platform III: The Economic Growth of the Black Family

  1. “Adopt-a-Family Initiative” - five (5) at risk families enrolled in our Family Resource Center. Assessments and action plans to meet needs center around job readiness, financial literacy, education needs, health needs, housing, etc.
  2. First Responder (CPR) training for young Black males - “Make a Difference Day” (scheduled)
  3. The Arts - support “Arts-On-The-Green”- a county wide arts program for school children and sponsor the Dance Ensemble at Booker T. Washington High School
  4. Summer Reading/Enrichment Program in Partnership with Macon County Public Library and Tuskegee YMCA
  5. National Children Book Week (focus on economics)
  6. Christmas Tree Activity - local nursing homes

  1. Monthly health information shared during chapter meetings
  2. ESP 1908 Centennial Walk - One (1) million pound weight loss national campaign)
  3. County wide Health Fair
  4. Red Cross membership drive
  5. SID S Prevention
  6. Relay for Life
